Metallica announces tenth studio album, “Death Magnetic”

Metallica has announced their next album, Death Magnetic, due out on September 12th. This is the first album since 2003, and get this… the first album featuring current bassist Robert Trujillo. Wow, we just assumed he’d be on one by now. More from the Metallica web site.

Undiscovered Mingus

A previously unknown 1964 recording of the Charles Mingus Sextet with Eric Dolphy was recently discovered by Mingus’ widow and released by Blue Note. This is a double CD live recording, featuring a near identical lineup to the group who recorded “Great Concert of Charles Mingus” about a month later.
