Two-time Grammy-winning bassist Derrick Hodge has returned with his third album as a leader, entitled “Color of Noize”. While it’s an expansion on Hodge’s unique blend of jazz, hip-hop, and soul, it also has several fresh aspects.

Even at a young age, Brandon Rose has been wowing audiences with his grooves for years on stages and online clips. Now, he’s released his debut album. “Transition” features 10 songs that were born out of the emotions Rose felt during the pandemic.

Bassist and composer Eivind Opsvik has been steadily releasing music with his project, Overseas, for nearly two decades. Now he’s compiled “Overseas Live 2002-2012”, a live album from the band’s first ten years.

The amazing supergroup of Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile have teamed up once again for an album called “Not Our First Goat Rodeo”.

Guitarist John Scofield has released a new album called “Swallow Tales” that celebrates the music of bassist Steve Swallow. Lucky for Scofield, Swallow, and drummer Bill Stewart fill out the release. Scofield says it took forty years of preparation.

The Plate Scrapers have released their third studio album, “Destination Horizon”, which is the first to document their evolving style. Based in the bluegrass tradition, the five-piece band includes No Treble’s Managing Editor, Kevin Johnson, on bass.

Norah Jones has returned with her seventh studio album. “Pick Me Up Off The Floor” is a conglomeration of songs Jones created over the last few years with many collaborators, including Christopher Thomas, John Patitucci, Jesse Murphy, Josh Lattanzi, and Jeff Tweedy.

Drummer Gergo Borlai has just released his new album, The Missing Song, which serves as a tribute to all the influential drummers that have inspired him. Although it’s drum-centric, Borlai is joined by an unbelievable cast of bassists for the record.

On his third album as a leader, Michael Olajuta has pulled out all the stops. “Lagos Pepper Soup” may be named after a West African dish, but it’s spiced up with influences from around the world.

Western Addiction has returned with a new album called “Frail Bray”. Despite some of the song titles, vocalist Jason Hall says the record is more positive than its predecessor, “Tremulous”. Another difference is the addition of bassist Mitch Paglia.

Covet has returned with an exciting new album called “Technicolor”. The group features guitarist Yvette Young utilizing extended technique to create melodies with bassist David Adamiak and drummer Forrest Rice laying down complementary textures.

Jon Thorne has launched a new record label and a new project. The bassist, also of Lamb, teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Martin Slattery to form The Strangest of Times. The group’s debut, “The Third Law of Motion” is out now, with more to come.
