Twelve years after her last studio album, R&B superstar Chaka Khan has returned with “Hello Happiness,” which is described as “an empowering collection of songs with cutting-edge production.” Sam Wilkes also brings a breath of fresh air with his bass on several songs.

Drummer Lance Crane and bassist Christian Fabian have teamed up once again to release a new album with The Crane & Fabian Project. “Run For Cover” is the third CD from the group and features a mix of covers and originals by Fabian.

Norwegian jazz bassist and composer Mats Eilertsen has released a new trio album, entitled “And Then Comes The Night.” The record, which is titled after a novel by Icelandic writer Jón Kalman Stefánsson, has a subtle and beautiful sound. That comes in part thanks to the studio they used.

Former Hüsker Dü guitarist Bob Mould has released a new solo album called “Sunshine Rock.” Joining Mould on the record are drummer Jon Wurster and bassist Jason Narducy, who has been with the songwriter since 2005.

The Tedeschi Trucks band has released their fourth studio album, entitled “Signs.” The eleven-song continues the southern soul band’s momentum of amazing music, and also marks the final album to feature bassist Tim Lefebvre.

For the first time in over three decades, previously unissued recordings from the late saxophonist Eric Dolphy have been released. “Musical Prophet: The Expanded 1963 New York Studio Sessions” includes 85 minutes of music, featuring bassists Richard Davis and Eddie Kahn

Thomas Laffont has released “The House By The Sea,” which marks the debut album with his band The Thomas Laffont Group. Anchored by Laffont’s deft bass work, the eight-song album takes you on a emotional trip.

LCD Soundsystem has returned with their third live album called “Electric Lady Sessions.” The album was recorded at the iconic Manhattan studio and features live in-studio versions of songs from their 2017 album, “American Dream,” as well as fan favorites and three covers.

Legendary R&B and gospel singer Mavis Staples has just released a new album called “Live in London,” with Jeff Turmes on bass. The release is taken from a performance at the London’s Union Chapel and comes just a few months before her 80th birthday.

Dywane “MonoNeon” Thomas has shared his latest album, entitled “My Feelings Be Peeling.” The album continues the bassist’s unique brand of lo-fi funk and jaw-dropping bass playing while expanding his sound with new collaborations.

The Get Right Band has released their first live album, aptly entitled “Live in Asheville.” Recorded at the Asheville Music Hall, the hour-long album includes some previously unreleased songs, as well as a cover of The Buggles’ “Video Killed The Radio Star.”

Jeff Hughell has followed up 2016’s “Trinidad Scorpion Hallucinations” with his fourth full-length solo album, called “Sleep Deprivation.” The Six Feet Under bassist went beyond his seven-string and performed a majority of the guitar and keyboard parts for the album.
