Nathan Navarro had a dream that he lost one of his arms, which inspired him to write this solo bass piece. The ethereal piece is a little dream-like itself and features some real right hand dexterity to execute the complicated tapping. For more on Nathan, check out his New School interview.

Bassist Charnett Moffett takes his upright bass and channels some Hendrix in this all-bass rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”. Happy fourth!

There’s tap, there’s solo bass arrangements, and then there’s this. Bassist Wes Sperry arranged Otis Redding’s classic “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” for bass and vocals fitting to the original. He even has the whistling part in there! It isn’t how many notes you can play. It is just finding the right ones.

Daniel Rey’s tapping is masterful, especially in this tune “Danza de los Anunnakis.” Similar to his tune Palenque, Rey’s hands move effortlessly to make his bass sing.

During the 2012 London Bass Guitar Show, bassist Steve Lawson took the stage with his Modulus fretted 6 string and performed this solo bass arrangement of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. The arrangement, the tone and the bass are all pretty sweet.
